Udit Narayan’s kiss videos spark outrage – singer reacts!

New Delhi: Veteran playback singer Udit Narayan has now responded to the controversy surrounding him kissing female fans at his recent concert. Speaking to Hindustan Times, the Tip Tip Barsa Pani singer said, “Fans itne deewane hote hain na. Hum log aise nahi hain, hum decent log hain” (Fans are so crazy, you know. But we are not like that, we are decent people).

On Friday (1 February), several videos of the 69-year-old Bollywood singer went viral on social media, showing him kissing female fans who approached the stage for selfies. In one of the clips, he is seen kissing a female fan on the lips while asking security personnel not to intervene.

Udit Narayan Reacts to the Kiss Controversy

Speaking to Hindustan Times, Narayan said that some people encouraged this as a way of showing their love for him. He then questioned the need to make a big deal out of the incident. Reacting to the video, he called it “deewangi“, saying, “There are so many people in the crowd, and we have bodyguards present too. But fans think they are getting a chance to meet us, so some extend their hands for a handshake, some kiss the hands… yeh sab deewangi hoti hai. Uspe itna dhyaan nahi dena chahiye” (This is craziness. Don’t pay much attention to it).

Udit Narayan Faces Backlash

Two videos of Udit Narayan have been going viral on social media. In one clip, a female fan tries to kiss him on the cheek after a selfie, but the singer tilts his head and kisses her on the lips. In another, a female fan goes in for a hug, but Narayan moves his head and plants a kiss on her lips.

Following the circulation of these videos, several netizens criticised the singer’s “inappropriate” actions. One user commented, “A singer of his stature should be super conscious of his deeds in public.” Another wrote, “Udit Narayan… no way… I hope this is AI… if not, the whole legacy is completely destroyed… Just shameful and disgusting.”

Udit Narayan has a history of such predatory behaviour and yet he remains scot-free which is shocking.

What’s even more shocking is that none of the women slapped him back after the act.
