Varun Dhawan depressed after Box Office failure of Baby John? Rajpal Yadav responds

New Delhi: There were massive expectations from Baby John, starring Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan in the lead. However, the Kalees directorial failed to make a significant impact at the Box Office. As the film witnessed an underwhelming response from viewers, it was rumoured that the 37-year-old actor is battling depression. But do such talks have any substance? Well, let’s find out.

Rajpal Yadav, who portrayed the character of Head Constable Ram Sevak/Jackie in the movie, recently responded to these claims. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, when asked about film critic KRK’s statement that Varun went into depression because Baby John did not perform well, Rajpal apparently refuted the remark.

Rajpal said that Varun is a lovely person who is extremely hardworking. “In this modern era, when you observe Varun’s films over the last 10 years, you will notice that he has tried to do something new in every project. This must be lauded as taking risks is a very tough task,” he added.

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, early estimates suggest that Baby John earned only Rs 20 lakh on Day 15, Wednesday (January 8, 2025). If the figure turns out to be accurate, the total collection of the film stands at Rs 39.15 crore in India.

For the unversed, Baby John also featured Keerthy Suresh, Wamiqa Gabbi, Jackie Shroff, Zara Zyanna, Sheeba Chaddha, Zakir Hussain, Prakash Belawadi, Armaan Khera and Shrikant Yadav in pivotal roles. It was said to be an adaptation of Atlee’s 2016 Tamil film Theri. Baby John was released in theaters on December 25, 2024, coinciding with the joyous occasion of Christmas.
