Harrdy Sandhu detained by Chandigarh police, cancels performance – What happened?

New Delhi: Fans eagerly waiting for Harrdy Sandhu’s electrifying performance in Chandigarh were left disappointed on Saturday (February 8) night. The Punjabi singer-actor who was set to headline the after-party at the Blenders Pride Fashion Tour was reportedly detained by the Chandigarh Police just before he could take the stage. The reason? A missing permission slip.

According to The Tribune, the police intervened moments before Harrdy’s performance at the Exhibition Ground in Sector 34. The authorities claimed he did not have the necessary permissions to perform, leading to his detention at the Sector 34 police station. While the event organisers later produced the required documents, the damage had already been done.

Harrdy Sandhu cancels Chandigarh concert

Annoyed by the ordeal, Harrdy chose to leave the city without performing. The audience had already seen Bollywood actress Jacqueline Fernandez walk the ramp before the scheduled concert. They left in the lurch as the much-anticipated musical act never happened.

Though reports suggest that the singer was taken away by the police, there’s no official confirmation from Harrdy or his team. While event attendees confirmed he never took the stage, News9Live could not independently verify if he was actually detained. This incident has raised questions about event management and permissions in high-profile shows. Whether it was a miscommunication or an oversight, the night ended on a sour note for both Harrdy and his fans.

On the work front

Harrdy Sandhu’s journey to stardom has been nothing short of cinematic. Originally a cricketer, he had to give up the sport due to a knee injury. His music career took off with Soch in 2013, followed by a string of Punjabi hits. He transitioned into acting with Yaaran Da Katchup (2014) and made his Bollywood debut in 83 as cricketer Madan Lal. His last big-screen outing was Code Name: Tiranga in 2022 alongside Parineeti Chopra.

Some of his popular numbers are: Naah Goriye, Kya Baat Ay, Bijilee Bijilee, Soch, Joker, Backbone and Yaarr Ni Milyaa.
