Billa Ranga Baasha: Kichcha Sudeep meets Karnataka Dy CM to settle land dispute

New Delhi: Kichcha Sudeep met Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Thursday (February 6, 2025) to resolve a land dispute related to his upcoming film Billa Ranga Baasha. It is to be noted that the movie’s production has faced several obstacles from the beginning, particularly during the construction of the shooting set.

The film’s team had planned to build the set at BM Kaval on Kanakapura Road. However, the location became a point of contention.

What is the dispute?

For those unaware, S Mahesh, the landowner, filed a complaint with the Bengaluru South Tahsildar, alleging that the flick’s team had encroached on his property. He claimed that the set was being built on Survey Number 65, spanning 2 acres and 33 guntas, which is part of the 6 acres of land he had earlier purchased.

Mahesh also stated that D Krishnappa and his children had constructed a shed on his property for an event without permission. Following this complaint, the Bengaluru South Tahsildar ordered the Billa Ranga Baasha team to halt the construction of the set immediately.

Interestingly, the complainant hails from Doddaalahalli, which is the hometown of Shivakumar. Sudeep, along with the film’s director Anup Bhandari, approached the 62-year-old political leader, requesting him to mediate with Mahesh and allow the set construction to continue.

After meeting Sudeep, Shivakumar travelled to Kanakapura, where he likely had discussions with Mahesh. He is believed to have negotiated a solution to ensure that the film’s shooting proceeds without any further hindrances.

Billa Ranga Baasha, produced by the team behind HanuMan, was unveiled on Sudeep’s 51st birthday, September 2, 2024. Along with the announcement, the actor posted a concept video on social media. The project is said to be set in 2209 AD, but further details, including the release date and storyline, are yet to be revealed by the makers.
