Will Chhaava be made tax-free in Maharashtra? CM Fadnavis reacts to FWICE request

New Delhi: The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) had requested Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to declare Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava tax-free. Now, CM Fadnavis has acknowledged the request and informed that the Maharashtra government removed the entertainment tax in 2017 in the state.

In the statement, FWICE stated that Chhaava “depicts the incredible story of sacrifice, bravery, selflessness and sense of duty of the legendary Maratha Sambhaji”. They further appealed to grant tax exemption status to the Hindi film Chhaava. Let’s delve into further details!

Chhaava to be made tax-free in Maharashtra?

In a statement, Chief Miniter of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, said, “I am happy that a very good movie has been made on his (Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj’s) life. I have yet to watch it but I have heard from people that this film has been made without distorting history. There has been a lot of demand from the people to make this film tax-free.”

He further added, “I want to inform the people that we removed the entertainment tax in 2017 itself in Maharashtra. We will see what best we can do to promote this film and make it available for maximum people.”
