Vidaamuyarchi Box Office collection Day 2: Ajith, Trisha Krishnan’s film struggles

New Delhi: The battle at the Box Office is fiercer than ever in the first half of February 2025, with new releases from across India locking horns in cinemas. Among tough competitors, Vidaamuyarchi garnered massive buzz on social media prior to its theatrical debut. However, it turns out that all the hype was short-lived.

According to Sacnilk, the action thriller raked in Rs 26 crore in India on its opening day on Thursday (February 6, 2025). But, it failed to sustain the momentum. Rough data suggests that the much-talked-about film dipped to Rs 8.75 crore at the Box Office on Friday (February 7, 2025) and struggled to even touch double digits. If the number turns out to be accurate, the total Box Office collection of the movie now stands at Rs 35.19 crore in India.

The industry tracker further states that Vidaamuyarchi has grossed Rs 47 crore at the worldwide Box Office. Now, it will need to aggressively attract massive footfalls in theaters over the weekend – Saturday (February 8, 2025) and Sunday (February 9, 2025) – to solidify its position as a commercial success.

Directed by renowned filmmaker Magizh Thirumeni, Vidaamuyarchi stars Ajith Kumar in the lead. The film also features Arjun Sarja, Trisha Krishnan, Regina Cassandra, Arav and Ravi Raghavendra in pivotal roles.

Produced by Subaskaran Allirajah under Lyca Productions, Vidaamuyarchi is said to be an adaptation of the 1997 American film Breakdown, directed by Jonathan Mostow. The plot centers around a man whose wife gets abducted. The storyline thickens as he embarks on a dangerous mission to rescue her from a notorious group in Azerbaijan.

The cinematography for the movie was done by Om Prakash, while ace musician Anirudh Ravichander composed the music with NB Srikanth handling the editing. It is believed that the majority of Vidaamuyarchi was shot in Azerbaijan, with a short schedule filmed in Thailand. The flick was reportedly wrapped in December 2024.
