Marathi YouTube channel BhaDiPa under fire for ‘filthy’ content amid Ranveer Allahbadia row

New Delhi: The popular Marathi YouTube channel BhaDiPa (Bharatiya Digital Party) has come under scrutiny amid the Ranveer Allahbadia and Samay Raina controversy. The YouTube channel has been accused of spreading “filthy” and “offensive” content on social media.

Amid the backlash from netizens, BhaDiPa founder Sarang Sathaye has postponed his upcoming show, Atishay Nirlajj Kande Pohe featuring Sai Tamhankar, which was scheduled for February 14. Let’s delve into further details!

BhaDiPa shares statement

In a statement on Instagram, BhaDiPa addressed his fans and announced that due to the ongoing controversy, they have decided to postpone the February 14 episode of Atishay Nirlajj Kande Pohe. He further added, “Anyway, Valentine’s Day gets more hate than love, but we still love our fans. We have taken this decision to ensure that neither our talent nor our audience faces any trouble.”

They further assured ticket holders that the amount would be refunded to their bank accounts within 15 days, adding, “Use it to buy yourself something nice! We know our fans love us and enjoy our unique style of comedy. That’s why we have introduced exclusive YouTube memberships to access our content.”

He also addressed the allegations of inappropriate content on his channel and said that all videos of Atishay Nirlajj Kande Pohe will now be available only for viewers above 18 years of age. They also shared that viewers can still enjoy their channel’s content with family.

However, the Instagram post has been deleted now.

The announcement received mixed reactions from netizens. While some supported the move, others questioned if digital content should be subject to strict scrutiny. One X user wrote, “Dear @MIB_India and Sh. @AshwiniVaishnaw ji @BhaDiPa produces filthy digital Marathi content under the lable of ‘अतिशय निर्लज्ज कांदेपोहे’. Consider this tweet as my complaint and demand for the entire removal of this content from all social media platforms ASAP.”

Other expressed, “Sathye is smart, he doesn’t overtly attack BJP or Hinduism. However, these subtle, carefully written jokes on Gyanvapi or Ram Mandir must not be ignored. Many who aspire to or work for Sathye want to be in his echo chamber – either being apologists or ridiculing our faith.”
