New Delhi: Actress Swastika Mukherjee took to Instagram to shed light on an incident involving a Swiggy Genie delivery agent allegedly stealing two tickets for India vs. England T20I match at Eden Gardens. The tickets, belonging to her manager, were never delivered leaving a cricket fan heartbroken.
Swastika reposted a detailed account by Shristi Jain, who had placed the order on Tuesday. According to her, the tickets were meant for her partner’s father, a die-hard cricket fan who had travelled all the way from Kanpur to experience the iconic Eden Gardens. The delivery, meant to go from New Town Action Area 2 to Action Area 1, never reached its destination.
Swiggy delivery agent steals T20I match tickets
“The Swiggy Genie delivery partner marked the order as ‘delivered’ at 5:37 am but blocked all our calls after an hour of accepting the task. It’s been over 13 hours, and neither Swiggy nor the police have helped us recover the tickets,” Shrishti wrote.
What has enraged the users the most is Swiggy’s lack of action. Shristi criticised the brand for failing to address the issue, despite having the delivery partner’s details. “How can anyone trust the brand if they fail to ensure safe delivery? This wasn’t just about tickets; it was about fulfilling a once-in-a-lifetime experience for someone who travelled miles for this match,” she added.
Swiggy under fire
As of now, Swiggy has yet to issue a statement addressing the situation. The lack of response from the company has left users questioning the reliability of its services.
Swastika, 44, is known for her roles in films like Qala, Dil Bechara and Detective Byomkesh Bakshy. The actress indeed used her platform to amplify the issue. Her repost brought widespread attention to the incident with several fans expressing outrage over the apparent negligence.
Netizens complain about the delivery app
Fans took to the comment section to share their personal ordeal with the delivery app. One wrote in the comments, “Swiggy genie is like this only. Once I was sending food to one of my clients through my cloud kitchen and it was not delivered and stolen by them. Reported it to Swiggy..but no action taken by them.” Another added, “Its a very common practice with Swiggy Genie. They have done it multiple times with expensive gifts being stolen along with important items, especially prevalent during festive times!”
