Shocking! KS Ramji accused of harassment on Instagram; director files police complaint

New Delhi: In a shocking turn of events, renowned Kannada serial director KS Ramji recently visited a police station to file a complaint. The matter came to the attention of the authorities after Ramji was reportedly subjected to online harassment.
Reports suggest that the complaint was lodged at the West Cyber Crime Station regarding false allegations made on Instagram. The director pointed to social media posts from a fake account that accused him of sexually harassing young women. He has urged officials to take action against those responsible for operating the account.
For those unfamiliar, Ramji has directed 16 serials, including Ramachari, Mangalagauri Samadhi, and Naagini 2. He has also helmed an action sequence for the Kannada film Hejjaru.
What is in the complaint?
Notably, an Instagram account with the handle Exposing_Ram_ji was created on 24 January 2025. Using Ramji’s photo, the account posted claims that the director had been sexually harassing young women.
The complaint seeks to have the post removed and to identify the unknown individual behind the account so that legal action can be taken. The FIR was lodged at the West Division Cyber Crime Station. Further details on the matter are still awaited.
52 cyber criminals arrested
In an unrelated incident, a cybercrime crackdown led by DCP Cybercrime Kavitha has reportedly resulted in multiple arrests. According to ANI, 52 individuals across 8 states, including three identified masterminds, were taken into custody during the operation.
The news agency further quoted Hyderabad Commissioner of Police, CV Anand, confirming that the crackdown covered the states of Gujarat, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, New Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, West Bengal and Bihar. Anand added that 33 cases were detected in Hyderabad city, 74 cases in Telangana state and 576 cases were detected across the country. These involved trading frauds, digital frauds, investment frauds and digital-related arrests.
It is believed that a total amount of Rs 88.32 crores was lost in these matters. On the other hand, the police were able to freeze only about Rs 3 crores.
