Saif Ali Khan stabbed: How the deadly night unfolded – A complete timeline of events

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed six times by an unidentified intruder at his plush residence in Bandra, Mumbai. The attacker broke into Saif and Kareena Kapoor’s home and first entered the couple’s youngest son Jeh’s room, a staff nurse, Eliyama Philip, recounted the horrifying incident in her statement to the police. She further revealed that the accused demanded Rs 1 crore when confronted.

For the unversed, Saif Ali Khan was rushed to the Lilavati Hospital around 3-3:30 am on Thursday (January 16) and underwent several surgeries after he was severely injured. According to the hospital’s statement, he is now out of danger and is under medical monitoring.

How horrifying night unfolded at Saif-Kareena’s residence?

As per the caretaker, Eliyama Philip, had put Jeh to his sleep around 11 pm and she too went to sleep on the floor in the same room. She first woke up and saw the bathroom’s light on and thought that it could be Kareena, who came to check on Jeh. However, she then saw a shadow of a man with a cap. She recalled to police, “I sat up to see who was in the bathroom when I saw a short, thin man come out and move towards Jeh’s bed. I immediately stood up.”

The intruder then pointed a finger at her, and said in Hindi, “Koi Awaaz Nahi (don’t make any sound).” She then walked towards Jej to wake him up. She further added, “The man had a wooden stick in his left hand and in his right hand he had a long, hacksaw-like blade. He rushed towards me.”

She then got in a scuffle with him and he attacked her with a blade, hurting her wrist. When she confronted him, he demanded Rs 1 crore. The nanny then raised the alarm, alerting Kareena and Saif, who rushed to the hall and found an intruder inside their home. Seeing the actor, the accused attacked Saif and the other house staff also came running.

As the intruder scuffled with Saif, the other staff members ran out in panic and when they came back, they saw injured Saif and the intruder had escaped. As per FIR, the incident took place on the 11th floor which has three rooms – one occupied by the couple, another by their son Taimur and the third by Jeh. The entire incident happened for about half-an hour from 2 am to 2:30 am. The accused attacked Saif with the hexa blade and also attacked other staff members, who had come to help Saif. The 54-year-old actor and others locked the intruder in  a room but he fled the scene.

Kareena Kapoor reacts to Saif being attacked

On January 16, Kareena Kapoor Khan also reacted to the incident through a social media post on Instagram. She shared that the day has been “incredibly challenging” for her family and they are still trying to process the events that have unfolded. She also requested media and paparazzi to refrain from relentless speculation and coverage as it “poses a significant risk” to their safety. Check out the complete statement below:

More details about the incident

After the incident, Saif was injured in the back of his neck, right shoulder, wrist of the left hand and elbow. According to PTI report, the intruder was around 35 to 40 years old. A CCTV footage, which went viral, also shows the attacker escaping through stair case. The police has now deployed 20 teams to arrest the suspect.
