New Delhi: Saif Ali Khan’s alleged attacker, who was arrested on Sunday (January 19) rested near the actor’s Bandra residence for six hours. Though he was near the crime scene for hours after stabbing the actor, the police were not able to trace him. The investigation revealed that he was near National College on Linking Road, which is barely 300 meters from Saif and Kareena’s home.
On the dreadful night of January 16, the attacker stabbed Saif Ali Khan six times while he was trying to protect his son Jeh. He was then rushed to the Lilavati hospital, where he is recovering now. The police arrested the man named Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad after detaining three suspects, questioning over 30 people, and examining CCTV footages.

Attacker rested for 6 hours near Saif Ali Khan’s home
According to Mumbai Police, the attacker walked from Saif Ali Khan’s home and took St Theresa’s Road and 32nd Road before he reached Linking Road. Police also suspect that he stopped in the middle to change his clothes and get rest. He was then spotted at Bandra railway station at 8:24 am, from where he boarded a Churchgate-bound train. He was again spotted at Dadar Railway Station at 8:45 am, where he was seen purchasing headphones.
Intruder was unaware he entered Saif’s home
Maharashtra deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar said that the attacker didn’t know he entered Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor Khan’s home. The man arrested is a Bangladeshi, identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad alias Bijoy Das. As per Pawar, he entered Kolkata from Bangladesh eight months back and came to Mumbai. He started working as a housekeeper after he was hired by an agency without verification.

According to DCP Zone 9 Dixit Gedam, the arrested the 30-year-old accused entered the actor’s home with the intention of robbery. During the probe, police scanned several CCTV footage, which helped them track the attacker.
How the attacker was nabbed by police?
While examining CCTV clips, they found Shehzad getting off a bike at Bandra Railway station on January 9. They noted the bike number and used facial recognition technology to nab the attacker. During the investigation, they found out that the attacker has been seen outside Dadar railway station thrice and even went to Worli Koliwada. He also visited a labour contractor in the same area. Police questioned the contractor and he gave details about Shehzada, which helped police to trace him in Thane.
