Saif Ali Khan attack: Advocate Ujjwal Nikam SLAMS critics questioning his recovery

New Delhi: Renowned public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam has addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding Saif Ali Khan’s health and the recent arrest in connection with the case. Responding to allegations and speculation, the advocate stated that comparing photos and CCTV footage or conducting private forensic tests cannot definitively prove that Mumbai Police has apprehended the wrong individual or that their investigation is flawed.

Ujjwal even highlighted that the investigation is still ongoing and the police are working on corroborative evidence, forensic findings and circumstantial proofs to strengthen their chargesheet. “The police will present a comprehensive report based on their findings, and conclusions should only be drawn after that,” he added.

Addressing criticism from certain political figures questioning Saif Ali Khan’s swift recovery, he remarked, “Such comments are naive. Saif is an actor, and even when in pain, he must maintain composure and continue his work. He cannot let his struggles show publicly, as it might affect his career.”

Regarding demands for Saif to publicly explain what transpired on the night in question, Ujjwal defended the actor’s right to privacy. “Why should he issue a statement? The matter is under police investigation, and it is up to them to reveal the details. Saif has a personal life, and raising unnecessary questions about him is unwarranted,” he concluded.

Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing incident

Saif Ali Khan, 54, was attacked last Thursday (January 16) by an intruder in his Bandra flat at around 2:30 AM. The harrowing incident occurred when the intruder allegedly confronted the Vikram Vedha actor’s maid at his residence. As Saif attempted to intervene, it escalated into a violent altercation, resulting in the actor sustaining multiple wounds.

He was later rushed to Lilavati Hospital in Mumbai where he underwent surgery under the supervision of a team of doctors. According to doctors, Saif sustained a major injury to the thoracic spinal cord due to a knife lodged in his spine. Furthermore, surgery was performed to remove a 2.5-inch-long knife from the actor’s spine and repair his leaking spinal fluid.
