Prateik Babbar marries girlfriend Priya Banerjee; newlyweds kiss in front of paps

New Delhi: Bollywood actor Prateik Babbar married actress Priya Banerjee on Valentine’s Day in an intimate wedding. As per Vogue India, the couple married in the house bought by Prateik’s late mother Smita Patil, to honour her. The couple made their relationship Instagram official on Valentine’s Day 2023 and exactly after two years, they are now husband and wife.

Earlier, Prateik Babbar was married to Sanya Sagar. They tied the knot in 2019 and got divorced in January 2023. Let’s delve into further details!

For their special day, Prateik and Priya opted for an ivory wedding outfit, designed by Tarun Tahiliani. Priya looked gorgeous in an ivory and gold lehenga teamed up with a structured corset and statement jewellery. Prateik, on the other hand, complemented his bride in an open sherwani, styled with a drape shirt and a dhoti.

The newlyweds took to Instagram to drop their official wedding pictures and wrote in the caption, “I’ll marry you in every lifetime 🤍.”

After the wedding, Prateik Babbar and Priya Banerjee greeted the paparazzi outside the residence. They also obliged shutterbugs stationed outside the venue with pictures. Prateik wished the photographers “Happy Valentine’s Day”. The couple also kissed on the lips in front of the media and carried his wife in his arms and twirled.

No Babbar family members at the wedding?

While the wedding was an intimate affair, it made headlines for the absence of the Babbar family members. Prateik’s father Raj Babbar and his half-siblings, Aarya and Juhi, were not invited.

Addressing the same, Aarya Babbar told ETimes that nobody from the family was invited for Prateik and Priya’s wedding. He added, “I presume someone has overpowered his brain too much.” He went on to say that the actor does not want to connect with anyone from his side of the family.

Aarya said that he would give Prateik the “benefit of the doubt” and understood why he did not invite his stepmother, Nadira Babbar, but felt that his father Raj Babbar should have been invited.

Complex family dynamics

Prateik Babbar’s family history has been a complex one. Raj Babbar was already married to Nadira Babbar when he fell in love with Smita Patil. Raj and Smita married in 1983 and welcomed their son Prateik in 1986. Tragically, Smita passed away due to childbirth complications.

Following her demise, Raj reconciled with his first wife Nadira and raised their children, Aarya and Juhi. On the other hand, Prateik was raised by his maternal grandparents.
