New Delhi: In the latest development, the cyber cell of Maharashtra police is scanning every episode of Samay Raina’s roast show, India’s Got Latent to find other instances of comics making objectionable remarks. The Maharashtra cyber police have sent a letter to YouTube regarding the controversy.

The controversy sparked after podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia appeared on Samay Raina’s show, India’s Got Latent. During the show, he made a tasteless joke that sparked widespread backlash. Now, Maharashtra cyber police have taken significant action, as per a TV9 Bharatvarsh report.

What’s in the letter?

In the letter sent to YouTube by Maharashtra Police, they requested the immediate deletion of all 18 episodes of India’s Got Latent from the platform and asked for action against the channel, as per the TV9 Bharatvarsh report. Additionally, YouTube has been instructed to review and remove any similar content, as per TV9 Bharatvarsh’s report.

According to the NDTV report, the investigators will also record the statements who attended the show as an audience. Additionally, the contestants who made objectionable remarks on the roast show are also under the scanner, as per sources. Celebrities who attended the show as guests include Rakhi Sawant, Uorfi Javed, Bharti Singh, and Raghu Ram.

Apoorva Mukhija records statement

Social media influencer, Apoorva Mukhija recorded her statement in the case and told Mumbai Police that the show was not scripted and they were told to talk freely without any bar.

More about the controversy

Cases have been registered against Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, Apoorva Mukhija, and others who were part of the latest controversial episode in Mumbai and Assam. Ashish Chanchlani and Jaspreet Singh are also facing legal troubles amid the raging controversy. After the row intensified, the episode was taken down from YouTube. The controversy also echoed in Parliament with the panel of Information Technology mulling to issue a notice to Ranveer Allahbadia. As per sources, the panel is exploring if action should be taken against YouTube for airing the derogatory content.
