Phool Aur Kaante: Why did villain of Ajay Devgn starrer leave industry to follow path of faith?

New Delhi: Ajay Devgn, who has blessed Indian cinema with numerous entertaining performances on the silver screen, made his Bollywood debut in 1991 with Phool Aur Kaante. Not only did the 55-year-old actor enter the industry with this film, but villain Arif Khan also made his foray into Hindi cinema with it. Though Arif starred in various films throughout his career, he later realised that he was born for a different purpose. And, as a result, he decided to leave the showbiz arena.

In December 2024, Arif took to Instagram to share an interesting video, captioned, “Janab Arif Khan Sahab (ex-Bollywood actor).” In the short clip, he can be seen explaining the reason behind leaving the film industry.

In the reel on the popular photo-sharing platform, Arif Khan said, “You must have seen my film Phool Aur Kaante in 1991. It was a huge and famous film in India. It was my and Ajay Devgn’s first film. I was full of youth, 23 years old. After that, I worked in 14-15 films and even TV serials. I was living a life filled with respect, wealth and fame.” He added that Allah later showed him the path of guidance, and his life changed. “And today, I am here,” Arif stated.

According to TV9Hindi, the 56-year-old Arif Khan is an Indian national and resides here as well. It is believed that he left the film industry 25 years ago.

Phool Aur Kaante Box Office Ccollection

Phool Aur Kaante, directed by Kuku Kohli, was released on November 22, 1991. It was produced by Dinesh Patel and had music by Nadeem-Shravan. The film featured the pairing of Ajay Devgn and Madhoo, while actors like Amrish Puri, Arif Khan, Goga Kapoor, Aruna Irani, Raza Murad, Jagdeep and Suresh Chatwal played pivotal roles.

According to Sacnilk, the budget of Phool Aur Kaante was Rs 2.50 crores, while the film collected Rs 11.50 crores at the worldwide Box Office. It was included in the list of superhit movies of that year.
