Ashita Dhawan opens up about facing online abuse from Rajat Dalal fans

New Delhi: Amid the controversy between Karan Veer Mehra and Rajat Dalal fans, actress Ashita Dhawan said that she has faced significant abuse and trolling after expressing her opinion on Rajat Dalal’s performance in Bigg Boss. In the past, she had stated that she wasn’t supporting him and has since been heavily trolled for her remarks. She is known for her her roles in TV shows like Sapna Babul Ka… Bidaai, Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, Imlee, Krishna Mohini, Mera Balam Thanedaar, and is currently seen in the show Prem Leela on Dangal TV.

Recounting the ordeal, she says, “I have been abused so much. I was asked about him in an interview, and I said that I used to like Rajat, but I don’t anymore. I also said that I didn’t think he would win. I believe he is using violence a bit too much.”

She adds, “His followers started trolling me relentlessly. They abused me so much—you wouldn’t believe the things I was told. I was even told that I should die. I can’t even repeat those abuses. I never said anything wrong; I just gave my opinion. Later, during another press conference, I was asked about him again. This time, I gave an open challenge and said that if he wins, I would leave acting and become a producer. However, the last part of my quote was omitted when it was repeated.”

The actress says it was unfair that she was subjected to abuse for simply sharing her opinion. “I was abused so much just because I felt that he should not win. I was confident that no audience would support such violence on the show,” she says.
