New Delhi: YouTuber Samay Raina is in deep waters with the controversy surrounding India’s Got Latent. After Ranveer Allahbadia’s controversial remark on the show, the aftermath has seen legal cases, FIRs, and mass cancellations on social media. The massive backlash led to Samay Raina being requested by the Mumbai Police to take all the IGL episodes down, which he obliged.

A part of the internet is celebrating this development while another is angry at the authorities for taking such an ‘unserious’ topic and making it such a debacle. But, there’s another small part, the fans who are trying to find the humour in the situation.

Samay responded to the controversy on his X account on February 12. Under this post, fans recalled a contestant who coincidentally might have been the ‘real culprit’ behind the downward spiral of the once-beloved show. And we’re here to explain the inside joke.

Netizens recall ‘cursed’ India’s Got Latent contestant

In the now-deleted India’s Got Latent episode featuring Rakhi Sawant and comedian Ashish Solanki, a contestant named Monal Kohli is being used as a meme. For context, the contestant, after an average performance revealed a fun fact about him. He claimed that he is very unlucky as every establishment he has been a part of has now shut down. He explained how his school, his college, and the company he was placed in, everything shut down once he left it.

At that time, Samay jokingly warned him that if India’s Got Latent shutdown, he’d hunt him down. Fans are now bringing back this moment and hilariously blaming Monal for the show’s downfall.
