New Delhi: Nine years after its release, Sanam Teri Kasam has found its moment in the sun. The 2016 tragic romance starring Harshvardhan Rane and Mawra Hocane might have flopped at the box office but thanks to its OTT revival, the film has become a cult favourite.

And now, with its surprise theatrical re-release on February 7, the movie has done what few re-releases manage—it surpassed its original lifetime earnings! Naturally, this newfound craze has sparked questions: Is Sanam Teri Kasam 2 finally happening? The answer is a resounding yes!

Directors Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru have confirmed that the sequel is not just an idea—it’s already written, and they’re aiming for a Valentine’s Day 2026 release. Speaking to India Forums, the director duo revealed that Sanam Teri Kasam was always meant to be a two-part story. “Actually, when we were writing the first film, we had already written it in two parts. The second part was always ready,” they shared.

For those who remember the film’s heartbreaking climax, this revelation makes perfect sense. “That’s why, at the end of Sanam Teri Kasam, Inder goes near the tree and Suru’s voice echoes with her dialogues. It was always meant to set up Part 2,” the directors explained.

When will Sanam Teri Kasam 2 release?

With the first film’s re-release receiving an overwhelming response, the pressure to deliver the sequel is on. “Now that everyone saw Sanam Teri Kasam again this Valentine’s Day, we have no choice but to bring Sanam Teri Kasam 2 next Valentine’s,” the directors said. “The script is ready, and even the songs are almost done.” If things go as planned, fans won’t have to wait long to see what happens next in Inder’s journey.

Despite competing against new releases like Loveyapa and Badass Ravikumar, Sanam Teri Kasam has raked in Rs 20 crore since its re-release. With no major releases until Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava drops on February 14, the film has a solid chance to extend its box office run.
