New Delhi: Ranveer Allahbadia and Ashish Chanchlani appeared before Maharashtra Cyber officials on Monday (February 24, 2025) to record their statements. The renowned YouTubers were reportedly questioned by the agency for around five hours.
According to PTI, after skipping previous summons issued by the agency, the duo appeared separately at the cyber headquarters in Navi Mumbai. An official told the news agency that they arrived at the headquarters around 11:30 am, after which their statements were recorded.
To avoid media attention, Allahbadia was seen wearing a black face mask. He is said to have left the headquarters around 5 pm in a private cab. On the other hand, Chanchlani departed an hour later in his car.
It is to be noted that more than 50 individuals connected to Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent – including guests, judges, social media influencers and comedians – were summoned by Maharashtra Cyber. The probe includes allegations of obscenity against Allahbadia.

For the unversed, Allahbadia’s controversial remarks on the YouTube-based show sparked an obscenity case. His crude comments about parents and sex led to widespread backlash from people across various sections of society.
Interim protection to Allahbadia
Last week, the Supreme Court granted interim protection from arrest to Allahbadia. The top court labeled his remarks as vulgar and stated that he had a dirty mind that shamed society. The court also directed Allahbadia to cooperate with the ongoing investigation and submit his passport to the Thane police to prevent him from leaving the country without permission. The matter will next be heard on March 3, 2025.
An FIR was registered on February 17, 2025, in Guwahati by a resident, alleging the promotion of obscenity in a publicly accessible online show. Alongside Allahbadia, Chanchlani and Raina, others named in the case include Jaspreet Singh, Apoorva Makhija, and Rakhi Sawant, who appeared as a guest on India’s Got Latent.
