New Delhi: Comedian Samay Raina has finally reacted to the ongoing controversy over his roast show, India’s Got Latent. On Wednesday (February 12), he took to X (formerly Twitter) to announce that he has removed all Indias Got Latent videos from his channel amid controversy.

The controversy began after the latest episode of India’s Got Latent, featuring Ranveer Allahbadia, Apoorva Mukhija, and others, went live on YouTube. The episode sparked outrage due to Allahbadia’s crass remark on the show. Let’s delve into further details!

Samay Raina reacts to India’s Got Latent controversy

Taking to X, comedian Samay Raina expressed that the controversy has been too much for him to handle, adding that he has removed all India’s Got Latent videos from his channel. He further added, “My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”

Raina also faces summons from Maharashtra Cyber Department and two FIRs have been registered in connection with the matter in Mumbai and Assam.

Earlier, Maharashtra cyber police requested YouTube for immediate deletion of all episodes of India’s Got Latent and asked for strict action against Samay Raina’s channel. YouTube has also been instructed to review and remove all similar content.

How did netizens react to his post?

After he reacted to the controversy, netizens slammed him for not apologising for “vulgar” content on his channel. One user wrote, “You are yet to apologise. So long post but you didn’t use the word “sorry” “regret” etc.”

Another opined, “Your objective is to make people laugh by promoting vulgar comedy? If so, please delete your channel. There is a limit to everything and you must be held accountable if you cross that limit.”

One more user expressed, “Make people laugh by this kind of content? Insane.. mumma papa hasse yeh content dekh ke??”

Another user commented, “Itni bakwas likh di tune, lekin ‘ I am sorry ‘ nahin likha. Shame on you man.”

More about the controversy

On Tuesday, Shiv Sena MP Naresh Mhaske raised the matter in Parliament and called for a law to regulate social media. The NCW also urged Information and Broadcasting minister Ashwini Vaishnaw to take immediate regulatory measures to address the matter. Meanwhile, Samay Raina’s lawyer has informed the Cyber Cell that the comedian will return to India on March 17, 2025, and requested time to appear before the investigating officer.
