New Delhi: Popular YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia found himself in the centre of a controversy after he made the distasteful remark on Samay Raina’s roast show, India’s Got Latent. While the podcaster received massive backlash, the controversy also inspired several memes and jokes on the internet.
In fact, comedian Gaurav Kapoor, known for his stand-up comedy, even roasted Ranveer Allahbadia as he made a set out of the controversy. Let’s explore what Gaurav Kapoor said during his stand-up comedy!
Gaurav Kapoor on Ranveer Allahbadia controversy
Comedian Gaurav Kapoor said that Ranveer Allahbadia was too quick to give out his apology and an uproar was sparked after he apologised. He said, “Arre bhaikya bhasad hogai yaar. Itni badi bhasad toh hai bhi nahi yaar. Ho gaya yaar, nikal gaya mooh se yaar (Oh man, what a mess this has turned into. But it’s not even that big of a deal. It just slipped out, that’s all.)
He also quipped at the fact that Ranveer apologised within two hours after the controversy erupted, adding, “2 ghante mein? Itni jaldi toh main apne papa ko sorry nhi bolta (In two hours? I don’t apologise to my dad so quickly.)”
Gaurav also suggested Allahbadia, “Abe rukja bhootni ke, lawyer ko dede thoda paisa. Baat karle lawyer se, samajh le kya bolna hai (Hey, hold on! Give some money to the lawyer. Talk to the lawyer and understand what you need to say.0”

What did the Supreme Court say?
In a major relief to Ranveer Allahbadia, the Supreme Court said that no further police cases could be filed against him in connection with the case. The top court also said that Allahbadia could approach Maharashtra or Assam police for “protection of life and liberty, in case of threats”. He was also told that he would not be arrested by either Maharashtra or Assam cops until and unless he cooperates with the investigation.
Ranveer Allahbadia was instructed to deposit his passport with police in Maharashtra’s Thane as he could not leave India without a prior nod from the Supreme Court. The court also said that Allahbadia and his associates could not participate in any further stand-up comedy or roast shows till further notice.
