Inside star-studded Bollywood weddings: DJ Aqeel shares untold stories

New Delhi: DJ and composer, Aqeel, has performed at high-end celebrity weddings. He has performed at the sangeet ceremonies of Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor, Abhishek Bachchan-Aishwarya Rai, and Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant. In an interview with Siddharth Kanan, Aqeel described his experiences of performing at high-end weddings as “fun and crazy”.

DJ Aqeel opened up about his experience of performing at Kareena Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan’s sangeet ceremony. He said that Kareena and Saif’s sangeet was “very intimate” with only a few people at the Taj. Sharing more details about the power couple’s sangeet bash, Aqeel mentioned that it was only family members and close friends in attendance and only 80 people attended the party, adding, “They both hit the dance floor. It was amazing.”

He also recalled Aishwarya Rai and Abhishek Bachchan’s sangeet, saying it was a “crazy party”.

He added that the sangeet ceremonies of both the couple were “fun”, adding that they all are his friends as he grew up with them. He further added, “So, there was a sense of comfort in knowing the entire crowd. It wasn’t like a stranger came in and performed. Most of them even attended my wedding too.” He also recalled that Abhishek and Aishwarya’s bash was a “much bigger party” than Kareena and Saif’s sangeet as the whole world was in attendance.

DJ Aqeel also shared his experiences of performing at Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s lavish wedding festivities. He shared that the baraat featured 13 stages, with him performing on one of them during a non-stop marathon lasting four-and-a-half to five hours featuring several renowned artists. He also revealed that he had signed an NDA, which restricted him from sharing any content online.

Abhishek Bachchan and Aishwarya Rai got married in 2007 while Kareena and Saif tied the knot in 2012. On the other hand, Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant got married in Mumbai in 2024.
