New Delhi: Venkatesh Daggubati’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam is proving to be a box office juggernaut. However, its OTT release may be pushed back to let the film enjoy its theatrical success a little longer. Reportedly slated for a February digital premiere on Zee5, the film’s massive earnings have led producer Dil Raju to reconsider.

Released on January 14, Sankranthiki Vasthunam has already amassed Rs 159.75 crore in India and an additional Rs 32 crore globally, bringing its total worldwide earnings to a staggering Rs 217.25 crore in just 14 days. Despite the growing trend of early digital releases, the film’s strong performance suggests that a delay could be the best financial move.

Sankranthiki Vasthunam OTT release details

OTT platforms have been securing streaming rights early, often releasing films within a month of their theatrical debuts. For example, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s Daaku Maharaaj is set to hit Netflix within four weeks of its February 2025 release. However, Sankranthiki Vasthunam’s steady box office numbers—Rs 9.8 crore on its 13th day alone—have sparked discussions about postponing its digital release.

According to OTT Play, Dil Raju is in talks with Zee5, which acquired the film’s streaming rights for Rs 30 crore, to delay the premiere and extend its theatrical run.
