Thandel collection Day 1: Naga Chaitanya, Sai Pallavi starrer shines at Box Office

New Delhi: After a gap of more than a year, Naga Chaitanya has stormed back into theaters. This time, he aims to leave a mark on the hearts of cinema lovers with Thandel. The romantic thriller, upon its silver screen debut, opened to mostly positive reviews. But, did the audience shower their love on this much-talked-about flick on its opening day? Let’s find out!

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, rough data suggests that the movie raked in Rs 10 crore on its Day 1 in India. It is to be noted that this figure includes contributions from dubbed versions as well.

The number is likely to get more accurate as the day progresses. The flick’s domestic Box Office collection is expected to witness a sharp rise over the weekend.

Thandel star cast

Alongside the 38-year-old actor, Thandel also features Sai Pallavi, Prakash Belawadi, Divya Pillai, Rao Ramesh, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Kalpa Latha and Kalyani Natarajan in pivotal roles. It has been directed by renowned filmmaker Chandoo Mondeti.

Produced by Bunny Vasu under Geetha Arts, Thandel boasts blockbuster music by Devi Sri Prasad and editing by Naveen Nooli. While Shamdat Sainudeen handled the cinematography, Naveen Nooli also served as the film’s editor.

Thandel plot

The storyline of Thandel revolves around the experience of fishermen who accidentally enter Pakistani waters during one of their routine trips. The situation takes a serious turn when they are caught by the coast guard and put in prison in Pakistan. What follows is a powerful tale of how they navigate this crisis and fight for their freedom.

The meaning of Thandel is believed to be the captain of a ship. Presented by Allu Aravind, the movie was released worldwide on Friday (February 7, 2025).

Did you know? Thandel is not Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi’s first silver screen collaboration. The duo previously starred in Love Story in 2021, directed by Sekhar Kammula. Produced by Amigos Creations and Sree Venkateswara Cinemas, the flick reportedly turned out to be a commercial success.
