Silambarasan’s STR 48 reborn as STR 50: Kamal Haasan steps out as producer

New Delhi: Actor Silambarasan fondly known as STR has surprised fans with an unexpected update—STR 48 is now officially STR 50. Yes, you read that right. What was once a long-delayed project has now transformed into a milestone film and the excitement among his fans is real.

For those who do not know, the film is directed by Kannum Kannum Kollaiyadithaal fame Desingh Periyasamy and was initially launched as STR 48. However, after more than two years of delays, rumours swirled that the project had been shelved. But Silambarasan had other plans.

STR 48 is now STR 50

On his 41st birthday, the actor dropped a surprise bombshell: not only is the film back on track, but it’s now STR 50, marking a major milestone in his career. STR announced that he’s stepping into the role of producer for the first time under his banner Atman Cine Arts.

Sharing a striking new poster, Silambarasan wrote, “I’m excited to share that I’m stepping into a new journey as a producer with @Atman_cinearts. There’s no better way to begin this than with my 50th film, a dream project for both me and @desingh_dp. We are pouring our hearts into this!” He wrapped up the post with a heartfelt note to his fans: “நீங்க இல்லாம நான் இல்ல!” (Without you, I am nothing!)—a sentiment that hits fans right in the feels.

The film’s previous producer, the legendary Kamal Haasan, stepped back from the project due to its hefty budget. But STR’s passion for the film kept it alive.

The film is a period-action drama, promising intense storytelling and cinematic grandeur. Music maestro Yuvan Shankar Raja will be scoring the soundtrack, rekindling his iconic partnership with STR. Cinematography will be handled by Manoj Paramahamsa, known for his visually stunning work.
