Samay Raina’s upcoming Gujarat shows CANCELLED? Controversy snowballs into new territory

New Delhi: Samay Raina seems to be yet another comedian who has faced falk for his controversial content. Although Samay has faced past criticism for his ‘dark comedy’, the situation has never quite reached to levels it has currently. After India’s Got Latent controversy went haywire, Samay Raina and other involved creators on the judge panels have been summoned by the Mumbai Police.

Further, in compliance with the authorities, Samay Raina has deleted all the India’s Got Latent episodes from his YouTube channel. Now, new reports about Samay’s upcoming shows being cancelled in Gujarat. Here is what we know.

Samay Raina’s Gujarat shows cancelled

On Wednesday (February 12), the Vishva Hindi Parishad (VHP) claimed that the tickets from Samay Raina’s show were no longer available on BookMyShow. Samay was scheduled to perform in Surat on April 17, Vadodara on April 18 and Ahmedabad on April 19 and 20. However, Gujarat VHP spokesperson Hitendrasinh Rajput stated that these shows have now been cancelled due to the public outrage against Samay Raina.

According to a report by The Hindustan Times, VHP regional secretary Ashvin Patel claimed that the show’s organisers have backed down due to the nationwide ongoing controversy. “In view of the anger among people, it appears organisers have cancelled Samay Raina’s upcoming shows in Gujarat. We are thankful to the people of Gujarat for showing such alertness. I also ask organisers to refrain from organising events of such people in Gujarat,” he claimed.

On February 11, Samay Raina deleted all 18 India’s Got Latent episodes from his YouTube channel. The comedian has assured the public that he will cooperate with the authorities to ensure the investigation is completed fairly. In his announcement, he simply stated, “My only objective was to make people laugh and have a good time. I will fully cooperate with all agencies to ensure their inquiries are concluded fairly. Thank you.”
