Salman Khan and Atlee’s highly anticipated action drama shelved? What we know so far

New Delhi: Ever since the blockbuster success of Atlee’s Jawan, starring Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan in the lead, in 2023, cinema lovers have been eagerly looking forward to the renowned director’s next silver screen project. The rumour mill in the showbiz world was abuzz with talks that the 38-year-old filmmaker’s upcoming project will feature Salman Khan.

Yes, you read that right! Rumours of Atlee and the 59-year-old hunk’s collaboration recently left moviegoers excited to the core. But now, it looks like the project is not happening at all.

Reports indicate that Salman Khan and Atlee’s highly anticipated action drama has been shelved. Initially planned as a big-budget venture with Rajinikanth or Kamal Haasan in a key role, the film now seems to have been put on indefinite hold.

Meanwhile, Atlee is reportedly moving ahead with a new project starring Allu Arjun. However, an official announcement about it is still awaited.

On the professional front, Salman will next be seen in theaters in Sikandar. The much-talked-about film is being helmed by blockbuster director AR Murugadoss. If social media buzz is to be believed, Sikandar also features Rashmika Mandanna, Kajal Aggarwal, Sathyaraj, Sharman Joshi and Prateik Babbar in pivotal roles.

The action film will hit cinemas on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr 2025. Produced by Sajid Nadiadwala, Sikandar reportedly boasts music composed by Pritam, with Tirru handling the cinematography and Vivek Harshan serving as the editor.

The power-packed teaser of Sikandar was unveiled online on December 28, 2024, a day after Salman’s birthday. In no time, it went viral on the internet and garnered immense love from netizens. On YouTube, it has so far received more than 60 million views and over a million likes.

Judging by the enthusiasm among cinema lovers for Sikandar, it is expected to perform exceptionally well at the box office. Currently, it is touted to be one of the biggest releases of 2025. Excited much?
