Saif Ali Khan attacked: Mumbai Police detain suspect amid high-stakes probe

New Delhi: In a major development in the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case, one person has been detained by Mumbai Police. However, official information is awaited. It was earlier reported that the accused was last seen near Bandra railway station. Police suspect that the unidentified intruder, who attacked the 54-year-old actor multiple times with a hacksaw-like blade, boarded a local train on the morning of January 16 to travel toward Vasai-Virar.

Saif Ali Khan sustained six stab wounds during the attack, which took place in his Mumbai residence. At the time of the incident, his wife Kareena Kapoor and their two children, Taimur and Jeh, were also present in the house.

Saif Ali Khan Stabbing Case

The unidentified intruder was first captured on CCTV, descending the stairs of Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor’s building. He was later spotted near Bandra railway station, prompting police to expand their search to adjoining areas. Authorities deployed 20 teams to track and apprehend the assailant.

How the Life-Threatening Incident Unfolded

According to the family’s caretaker, Eliyama Philip, the intruder was first seen in Jeh’s room. When she confronted him, he gestured for her to stay silent. Despite his threats, she raised an alarm, alerting Saif Ali Khan and Kareena Kapoor. As the couple rushed into the hall, Saif confronted the attacker, leading to a physical altercation.

The incident occurred on the 11th floor of their building between 2:00 and 2:30 am. Saif was rushed to the hospital around 3:00 am on Thursday, January 16.
