Saif Ali Khan attack case: Mumbai Police says they have strong evidence against accused

New Delhi: On Tuesday (January 28), Mumbai Police said that they have gathered strong evidence against the arrested accused in connection with the Saif Ali Khan stabbing case. As per the police, they have collected enough proof to support their claim that the accused was involved in the case.

Mumbai Police said that so far, they have not received any fingerprint reports, and hence, they have no information about it. They further claimed that they had arrested the correct accused, Mohammed Sajjad, who is a Bangladeshi. They have also stated that they have collected enough strong evidence against the accused.

Saif Ali Khan attack case update

The police have issued a statement addressing the widespread concern over Saif Ali Khan’s attacker and clarified the facts about the case. As per police, the accused stayed in Kolkata after crossing into India from Bangladesh. CP Pramjit Singh said that they are interrogating all those who assisted him during his stay in Kolkata.

He further added, “Regarding fingerprints, let me clear the confusion! No fingerprint report has come yet. Regarding the claim of the accused’s father, What the accused’s father says, we cannot speak on this. But I will say this much, the accused has been arrested and there is ample evidence against him.”

Fingerprint report awaited

The police have also confirmed that no fingerprint reports have been received yet and they will be provided later. Mumbai Police also addressed the speculations about the identity of the arrested individual and firmly stated that the person they have arrested is indeed the accused and they have apprehended the right individual. Police also shared that the Investigating Officer is the first responder and after that, changes happen as part of an administrative process.

They also disclosed the recovery of a knife and a hex blade, both believed to be linked to the crime. However, the reports regarding the weapon are still awaited, adding, “There is no doubt about the time of their arrival.” Police also confirmed that the first information regarding the crime was received from Lilavati Hospital, where Saif Ali Khan was treated for his injuries after the fatal attack. They also clarified that Saif did not make the call to authorities, as reported earlier.

What happened on the life-threatening night?

Actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed multiple times by an intruder in his Mumbai residence while the actor was trying to protect his son Jeh Ali Khan. He was then rushed to the Lilavati Hospital by his son Taimur Ali Khan, where he underwent two major surgeries. He is now back home and is recovering well.
