Raj Babbar’s reaction to missing Prateik’s wedding? Arya Babbar says, ‘Mard shaadi…’

New Delhi: Veteran actor Raj Babbar’s son Prateik Babbar tied the knot for the second time sans the Babbar clan. The Dhoom Dhaam actor married his longtime girlfriend Priya Banerjee in an intimate ceremony which took place at his late mother and actress Smita Patil’s Mumbai home. However, fans were shocked to see the absence of his father and his step-siblings with whom Prateik has always shared cordial relations while growing up.

In a recent interview with The Indian Express, Prateik’s step-brother and actor Arya Babbar revealed that his family was not invited to the wedding, not even his dad. While he expressed disappointment, the Tees Maar Khan actor added that he has no hard feelings for Prateik.

Arya, who is also a stand-up comedian recently poked fun at this family fiasco with a playful take. Taking to his Instagram handle, he dropped a video from one of his his sets where he shared Raj Babbar’s reaction on not getting invited to the wedding. “My father said, tell them, mard toh shaadi karte rehte hai (men keep getting married),” the veteran actor said.

In another clip, Arya Babbar revealed that everyone in his family has married twice and that even his dog has two girlfriends, sending a wave of laughter amongst those in the audience. “I agree my father married twice, my sister also married twice, and now my brother is getting married for the second time. Even my dog, Happy, has two girlfriends. So, I don’t mind getting married for the second time, but I’m too lazy to go through the complications of a divorce,” he said.

Raj Babbar’s family

For those unaware, Prateik Babbar is the son of actors Raj Babbar and Smita Patil. Raj was initially married to Nadira Babbar, with whom he had two children, Arya and Juhi. In 1983, he married Smita Patil, making it his second marriage. Their son, Prateik, was born in 1986, but tragically, Smita passed away days later due to childbirth complications. After her death, Raj returned to Nadira.

Prateik was previously married to Sanya Sagar, but the couple divorced in 2023.
