Pushpa 2 director Sukumar’s Hyderabad residence raided by Income Tax officials

New Delhi: In the latest development, the IT department carried out a raid on the director of Pushpa 2, Sukumar’s residence on Wednesday (January 22), as per TV9 Telugu report. According to the report, he was escorted from the Hyderabad airport to his residence by IT department officials. This comes a day after the residences and offices of Mythri Movie Makers and producer Dil Raju were raided in Hyderabad.

The Income Tax raids continue on Day 2 at the residences of Pushpa 2: The Rule producers, Mythri Movie Makers on Wednesday. However, the reason for the raids on Pushpa 2 makers remains unclear as the IT department hasn’t issued any official statement on the matter yet. Meanwhile, it is being speculated that the Income Tax raids may be linked to the financial returns from Pushpa 2: The Rule.

It raids at Sukumar’s residence

Income Tax raids are underway at the Hyderabad home of Telugu filmmaker, Sukumar, according to TV9 Telugu report. As per IT department officials, Income Tax payments have not been made as per Pushpa 2: The Rule‘s collections. Officials are examining the bank transactions of Mythri Movie Makers, producer of Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa 2.

Meanwhile, searches are also underway at the producer Dil Raju’s home on Wednesday. For the unversed, Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, has collected Rs 1464.9 crore gross in India and Rs 1734.40 crore at the worldwide box office.

IT raids at Dil Raju and Mythri Movie Makers properties

On Tuesday (January 22), IT raids were conducted on the properties of the producer Dil Raju and Mythri Movie Makers. The IT officials were suspected of tax evasion, reportedly. The officials are also verifying the documents. As per the TV9 Telugu report, the raids have also been conducted on Sirish and Mango Media, apart from Dil Raju and Mythri Movie Makers.

The raids follow the success of films including Venkatesh’s Sankranthiki Vasthunam and Pushpa 2: The Rule. Dil Raju has produced the Venkatesh starrer and also recently released, Gam Changer, starring Ram Charan.
