Punjab 95: Diljit Dosanjh starrer to release without any cuts; What we know

New Delhi: The Censor board demanded 120 cuts in the Diljit Dosanjh starrer Punjab 95, which is based on the life of Jaswant Singh Khalra. In the latest development, the film will now be released without a single cut in theatres. This came after Jaswant’s wife Paramjit Kaur Khalra condemned the Central Board of Film Certification for demanding multiple cuts.

She said that the biopic was made with the family’s consent and should be released without any cuts. In December, the Shiromani Gurudwara Parbandhak Committee formed a group of historians to study the accuracy of the film and concluded that the movie doesn’t target anyone and shows the truth of Punjab.

Punjab 95 first look

A few days back, Diljit Dosanjh shared the first look of him as Jaswant Singh Khalra. In the first picture, his character can be seen with blood-soaked face, sitting in a room while in the other, he can be seen posing and smiling with two kids. Another photo is a Behind-The-Scenes (BTS) picture of Diljit Dosanjh.

Punjab 95 plot

Punjab 95 narrates the story of Jaswant Singh Khalra, who was a prominent Sikh human rights activist. He investigated the cremation of thousands of unidentified bodies in Punjab and uncovered human rights violations. In 1995, he mysteriously disappeared. In 2007, four police officers were arrested for his alleged kidnapping and murder. It is directed by Honey Trehan and produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the banner of RSVP Movies. The film also stars Arjun Rampal and Suvinder Vicky in important roles.

Meanwhile, the trailer of the film will be dropped in the coming days and it may release in February 2025. However, an official announcement on its release date is still awaited. For the unversed, Diljit created waves on social media with his Dil-Luminati Tour 2024 in India.
