New Delhi: Anora was named Best Picture at the 97th Academy Awards on Sunday (March 3, 2025). The Sean Baker directorial received massive applause from the audience as the top prize was announced at the Oscars 2025, held at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

Interestingly, the romantic comedy-drama revolves around an erotic dancer who elopes with the son of a Russian oligarch. You will be amazed to know that the much-talked-about film was made on a modest budget of just USD 6 million.

Adrien Brody emerged victorious in the Best Actor in a Leading Role category for his performance in The Brutalist. “I pray for a healthier, happier and more inclusive world,” the 51-year-old actor said in his acceptance speech.

The star-studded event was hosted by comedian Conan O’Brien for the first time. The 61-year-old entertainer elevated the night with his signature humour and wit.

During the course of the show, firefighters who helped battle deadly wildfires in Los Angeles were honoured by the Academy. Conan invited a team of firefighters onto the stage, leading to a standing ovation from the audience.
