Masaba Gupta and Satyadeep Mishra name their daughter Matara – Know its meaning

New Delhi: Actress and fashion designer Masaba Gupta and Satyadeep Mishra welcomed their daughter in October last year. On the occasion of Lohri 2025, Masaba revealed the name of her baby girl and the meaning of her name. The fashion designer shared a glimpse of her newborn daughter and a gold bangle which has her name inscribed.

Masaba Gupta reveals her daughter name

New parents Masaba Gupta and Satyadeep Mishra named their newborn daughter, Matara. Taking to Instagram, they shared an adorable post featuring Matara’s little hand and the hand of the fashion designer, wearing a gold bangle with her daughter’s name inscribed on it. As soon as she dropped the post, celebrities poured their love on the post. Some of the celebs who dropped hearts on the post are Shilpa Shetty, Athiya Shetty and others.

What is the meaning of Matara?

In their post, Masaba and Satyadeep revealed that the name Matara “embodies the divine feminine energies of nine Hindu goddesses, celebrating their strength and wisdom”. Masaba further added that Matara is the star of her parents’ eyes. She further wished her fans and followers ‘Happy Lohri’ as she concluded her Instagram post. They also shared how the name is pronounced which is – Ma-Taa-Ra.

Nani Neena Gupta with Matara

Last month, Masaba shared a video of her mother Neena Gupta interacting with the little baby girl. In the clip, the Uunchai actress asked her granddaughter, “You will also give me OTPs once you grow up, right?” Masaba captioned it, “Neenaji asking the real tough question – can you give me OTP?” Neena Gupta had also shared a picture of Matara when she was just born and wrote in the caption, “Meri beti ki beti – Rab rakha.”

The couple tied the knot on January 27, 2023, and announced their pregnancy in April last year.
