New Delhi: Actor Jayam Ravi has been in the entertainment industry for over two decades. Born with another name, the actor’s stage name, Jayam Ravi came as a tribute to his debut film Jayam in 2003. Since then, the actor has established himself in the industry with his diverse range of movies. Now, the actor took to Instagram to announce that he will be reverting back to his birth name.

On January 13, 2025, Jayam Ravi wrote a heartfelt note to his fans and requested to refer to him by his birth name, Ravi Mohan. Why did the actor take this decision 21 years into his career? Here is what he had to say.

Why did Jayam Ravi revert to his birth name?

In the Instagram post, Ravi went on to express his gratitude to his fans and the film industry for the love they have bestowed upon him. Stating that cinema has been his greatest passion and the industry has shaped him into who is today, Ravi Mohan thanked the fans for their unconditional support. While writing about his decision to change his name, the actor explained that as he moves into a new chapter, he would like to align his vision and values with his name. “A name that deeply resonates with my personal and professional aspirations. As I move into this new chapter, aligning my identity with my vision and values, I kindly request everyone to address me by this name and no longer as Jayam Ravi,” he wrote.
