India’s Got Latent: FIR filed against contestant of Samay Raina’s show? Know why

New Delhi: Lately, the internet has been abuzz with discussions about India’s Got Latent. The YouTube show, made by Samay Raina, has been garnering immense love from the younger generation for its raw humour. However, it has now landed in legal trouble.

According to an Instagram post by renowned photographer Viral Bhayani, India’s Got Latent is in legal turmoil over controversial remarks made by a contestant named Jessy Nabam from Arunachal Pradesh. When asked if she has eaten dog meat, she reportedly replied that she has not but her friends have.

At this point, Balraj Ghai intervened and said, “Now, you are saying it just like that.” In response. She disagreed and replied, “I am not saying it just like that.”

Following the episode going viral on social media, it is being said that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed against the India’s Got Latent contestant over her comments. The FIR, believed to be dated January 31, 2025, is addressed to the Officer In Charge of Itanagar Police Station, Arunachal Pradesh.

The Instagram post further mentioned that the FIR was filed by Armaan Ram Welly Bakha, a resident of Seppa, East Kameng District, Arunachal Pradesh. It was registered on the grounds of allegedly making derogatory remarks about the indigenous people of Arunachal Pradesh.

For the unversed, India’s Got Latent is an internet-based reality show where contestants get only a few seconds to showcase their talents in front of a panel of judges, which mostly consists of entertainers from various fields. The twist is that the contestants must guess the marks they will receive out of 10 and, if their guess matches the judges’ aggregate score, they emerge victorious.
