India’s Got Latent controversy: FIR accuses Raina of deliberately posting hurtful content? Latest updates

New Delhi: Apoorva Mukhija, also known as The Rebel Kid, arrived at Khar police station on Wednesday (February 12, 2025) to record her statement following the controversy surrounding the comments made by podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia on a recently released episode of Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent. She was let go by the police after two hours of questioning in the matter.

Cops also recorded Apoorva’s statement. It is to be noted that Ashish Chanchlani’s statement was recorded on Tuesday (February 11, 2025). For the unversed, the much-talked-about episode of India’s Got Latent featured Apoorva, Ashish, Samay, Ranveer and Jaspreet Singh on the panel.

Latest updates in Samay Raina-India’s Got Latent case

• Maharashtra Cyber Cell recently filed a case against a YouTube-based show following the row over the controversial statement. It is being said that as many as 30-40 people have been booked.
• According to a news18.com report, the complaint underlines a particular incident, which could incite communal disharmony, where derogatory comments were made about people from Arunachal Pradesh.
• The media outlet further stated that the FIR accuses Samay of deliberately posting content to hurt religious sentiments. It reportedly includes statements made during a live stream, involving inappropriate remarks about women and religious beliefs.
• The National Commission for Women (NCW) has also expressed strong concern over the derogatory comment made by Ranveer, along with others, on India’s Got Latent. The women’s body has asked the content creators involved to appear in person before the commission.
• The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has issued a strong condemnation terming Ranveer’s remarks as abhorrent and disrespectful to societal and family values.

In the episode, Ranveer asked a distasteful question involving intimacy between parents to one of the contestants. It triggered condemning reactions from people from all walks of life. Following the controversy, Ranveer issued a public apology video. In the short clip, he acknowledged that his comments were both inappropriate and insensitive.
