How India’s Got Latent controversy cost Ranveer Allahbadia followers, brand deals and more

New Delhi: Podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia courted a massive controversy after he appeared on Samay Raina’s India’s Got Latent. It all started after he asked a derogatory question to a contestant, which was lifted from another YouTube show and was approved by India’s Got Latent‘s panel. But, the moment the episode went live on YouTube, it sparked an outrage on social media, followed up by FIRs.
Following the controversy, Ranveer Allahbadia was hit hard by it as he lost followers, and brand deals and already has two FIRs against him. Let’s delve into further details!
Ranveer Allahbadia loses followers
According to reports, Ranveer Allahbadia lost around 56K followers across different social media platforms in just two days. The 31-year-old YouTuber runs two YouTube channels – Ranveer Allahbadia and BeerBiceps. While the former remains unaffected, the latter lost 30,000 subscribers on February 10. As per Social Blade, his YouTube channel BeerBiceps saw a drop of another 10,000 subscribers on February 11.
On the other hand, his Instagram account witnessed a drop of 3,752 followers while his personal page Ranveer Allahbadia lost around 12, 814 followers. On Facebook, the YouTuber, who had a fan following of 1.3 million, lost over 1,000 people.
On X (formerly Twitter), he lost 270 followers on February 10 but gained over 1,500 on February 11. Overall, he lost 56,000 followers across all social media platforms.
According to reports, the controversy might even cost him some major brands he is associated with. However, there is no official confirmation of the same. Apart from these, singer and composer B Praak also announced publicly that he had cancelled his appearance on the BeerBiceps podcast.
FIRs against Ranveer Allahbadia
Meanwhile, two FIRs have been registered against him and comedian Samay Raina, among others, for making and broadcasting derogatory remarks on the show and broadcasting them. The Maharashtra cyber police have also booked 30 individuals in the case. Additionally, the National Commission for Women has also summoned Allahbadia over his derogatory remarks on the show. On Tuesday (February 11), Versova Police visited the residence of Ranveer Allahbadia, following the controversy and outrage.
