New Delhi: Telugu star Chiranjeevi has stirred controversy with his recent comments at the Brahma Anandam pre-release event. The 69-year-old actor’s remarks are now being labelled as sexist and outdated by netizens. So, what did he actually say? Well, let’s find out!

Chiranjeevi expressed that when he is at home, he doesn’t feel like he is with his grandchildren. Instead, he feels like a hostel warden. Chiranjeevi added that there are so many girls in their house. “This time, I have asked Charan to have a baby boy,” he further said.

His statement has led to an uproar online, with social media users disagreeing with his thinking. “Crazy how people forget that daughters can carry legacies too. Ever heard of Indira Gandhi or PV Sindhu?” posted a user on X (formerly known as Twitter). Another wrote, “A celebrity like him should be cautious about what to say in public.”

However, some of his fans jumped to his rescue and debated with those slamming Chiranjeevi. People are also seeking clarification from him, in case his words are being misinterpreted and blown out of proportion.

Chiranjeevi in Vishwambhara

On the professional front, Chiranjeevi is currently gearing up for the release of Vishwambhara. Directed by renowned filmmaker Mallidi Vassishta, the fantasy action film is being produced by UV Creations. Reportedly, it also features Trisha, Kunal Kapoor, Meenakshi Chaudhary, Ashika Ranganath, Surbhi Puranik, Isha Chawla and Subhalekha Sudhakar in pivotal roles. Further details about the upcoming project are still being kept under wraps.

Chiranjeevi was last seen on the silver screen in Bhola Shankar. The Meher Ramesh directorial failed to make a significant impact at the Box Office. According to industry tracker Sanilk, it only managed to collect Rs 42.25 crore worldwide during its theatrical run. The zombie action film also starred Tamannaah Bhatia, Keerthy Suresh and Sushanth. Bhola Shankar was considered a remake of the 2015 Tamil film Vedalam.
