Chhaava: Who played Kavi Kalash, the loyal friend of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj?

But another character from the historical drama that is being highly discussed by moviegoers is Kavi Kalash.

Kavi Kalash was a close friend of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Not only was he a brave warrior, but he was also a great poet as well. Kavi Kalash stood with Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj till the last moments of his life. His portrayal in Chhaava has touched many souls, with immense love being showered upon the actor who played the character of Kavi Kalash.

It is Viineet Kumar Siingh who brought Kavi Kalash to life on the big screen. The 46-year-old hunk is a massively acclaimed actor who has worked in some of the most popular Hindi films. Gangs of Wasseypur, Mukkabaaz, Ugly and Daas Dev are some of his most loved projects.

On the day of Chhaava’s release, Viineet penned on Instagram that the most important thing for him as an actor was to be part of stories that truly touch hearts. He added that he has always aimed to choose stories that inspire or move fans in ways they’ve never felt before.

However, after Mukkabaaz, there was a phase when he had almost no work. But now, he was part of movies that he was truly proud of. “Chhaava is one of them, close to my heart and soul,” Viineet wrote.

Chhaava Box Office collection

According to industry tracker Sacnilk, early estimates indicate that Chhaava has collected Rs 31 crore at the domestic Box Office on Friday (February 14, 2025). Directed by renowned filmmaker Laxman Utekar, the flick has been produced by Dinesh Vijan under Maddock Films. It is said to be based on the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant.
