New Delhi: Vicky Kaushal’s Chhaava is proving to be a juggernaut at the box office. The historical drama, directed by Laxman Utekar, continues its winning streak well into its second weekend, raking in a whopping Rs 286.75 crore so far. If numbers are anything to go by, the film is nowhere close to slowing down.
According to early estimates from Sacnilk, Chhaava brought in Rs 44 crore on its second Saturday alone. The film registered an impressive 50.45% occupancy that day, with audience numbers climbing throughout showtimes: 35.55% in the morning, 53.98% in the afternoon, and 61.82% in the evening.

Having debuted with a strong Rs 31 crore net, Chhaava closed its first week with Rs 219.25 crore. It saw a steady rise in its second week, collecting Rs 23.5 crore on its second Friday—an increase from Rs 21.5 crore on Thursday, marking a 9.30% growth. With its steady run, the film is inching closer to the coveted Rs 300 crore club.
Even Prime Minister Narendra Modi couldn’t resist the Chhaava fever. Speaking at the 98th Akhil Bharatiya Marathi Sahitya Sammelan at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi, he gave the film a nod, saying, “Maharashtra and Mumbai have elevated Hindi cinema along with Marathi films. And these days, Chhaava is making waves.” Maddock Films, the film’s producers, called it a ‘historic honour.’
More about Chhaava
Based on Shivaji Sawant’s Marathi novel Chhaava, the film brings to life the valiant story of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. Starring Vicky Kaushal, Rashmika Mandanna, and Akshaye Khanna in lead roles, the period drama boasts an ensemble cast including Diana Penty, Divya Dutta, and Ashutosh Rana. With high production values and gripping storytelling, the film has captivated audiences across the country.
With its momentum showing no signs of fading, the coming days will be crucial for Chhaava’s long-term box office fate. If the film’s current trajectory continues, Chhaava might just storm past Rs 300 crore sooner than expected.
