Azaad X review: Netizens disappointed? Aaman Devgn-Rasha Thadani’s film ‘lacks depth’

New Delhi: Launching debutants Aaman Devgn and Rasha Thadani, Azaad released in theatres on January 17, 2025. While the audience was excited to see the film, the premiere seemed to have brought in mixed reviews. The movie promised an emotional human-animal bonding, love and loyalty, but did it deliver?

Let’s look at the positive feedback from the audience. Netizens lauded the debutant Aaman Devgn’s on-screen presence and emotional depth. Fans have also appreciated Rasha Tahdani’s ravishing yet innocent chemistry with her co-star. Coming to Ajay Devgn’s short-lived yet impactful appearance in the film, netizens called the actor’s presence the ‘soul’ of the film. The netizens have also taken a liking to the film’s breathtaking visuals, horse-riding sequences, dialogues, production value and the overall pre-Independence atmosphere the film promised to deliver.

On the other hand, netizens have complained about the film’s pacing and lack of proper momentum. Calling out the film for its underutilized supporting characters and slow-paced narrative, most negative reviews wrote about Azaad’s sluggish start. Pointing out how the film’s first half was boring, the biggest critique the film faced was the lack of depth and fleshed-out characters. Further, a few netizens also critiqued the film for a few illogical action sequences and a lack of clarity in a few plot points.
