New Delhi: Baahubali and RRR filmmaker SS Rajamouli is currently busy teaming up with Mahesh Babu for a Rs 1,000 crore cinematic extravaganza, SSMB29. The buzz around the project is unstoppable with weekly updates setting the internet ablaze. However, the makers are keeping the plot tightly under wraps, ensuring every detail remains a surprise.
Even the core team has reportedly signed confidentiality agreements to maintain secrecy. But there is a new update for movie buffs regarding the cast of SSMB29. Scroll down to read about it!
John Abraham replaces Prithviraj Sukumaran as villain
Initially, reports suggested Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran would play the antagonist. However, recent updates reveal that the makers have approached John Abraham for the negative role. This decision comes after talks with Prithviraj reportedly didn’t work out.
John, 52, is known for his powerful portrayal of villains like Jim in Pathaan (2023). The actor has proven his mettle in intense roles notably Dhoom (2004). Fans are already excited to see him share the screen with Mahesh Babu and Priyanka Chopra. If reports are to be believed, some of John’s scenes have already been shot in Hyderabad.
Priyanka Chopra joins SSMB29
Additionally, global icon Priyanka Chopra will star opposite Mahesh Babu in this ambitious project. Her inclusion adds star power to the film, making it a true pan-India blockbuster. Despite the ongoing buzz, neither the cast nor the makers have confirmed any details about the storyline or John Abraham’s involvement.
John Abraham’s role in Pathaan as the menacing villain Jim won him accolades for his gripping performance. His transition to Rajamouli’s high-budget spectacle has already piqued interest, with fans eager to see how he will elevate the narrative in this magnum opus.

Recently, the Eega filmmaker shared a uniquely amusing video on his Instagram account. In the post, he jokingly mentioned having “caged the lion,” likely referring to Mahesh Babu, and hinted at taking the actor’s passport—possibly alluding to Mahesh being fully committed to the film’s shoot. Reacting to the post, Mahesh Babu chimed in with an iconic dialogue from his 2006 blockbuster Pokiri. His comment read, “Okkasaari commit ayithe naa maata nene vinanu,” which translates to, “Once I commit, I won’t even listen to myself.”
