A tearful farewell: Sonam Kapoor’s emotional walk in memory of designer Rohit Bal

New Delhi: Renowned fashion designer Rohit Bal passed away due to heart-related ailments at the age of 63 in November 2024. Rohit was an inspirational figure in the fashion industry who pioneered the scene with his motifs. During his long career, Rohit befriended several celebs and peers with his lovable personality. One such celeb friend was Sonam Kapoor.

Sonam Kapoor walked the Blenders Pride X FDCI Fashion Tour 2025 in honour of late fashion icon Rohit Bal on February 1, 2025. Rohit’s passing seems to have a lasting after-effect as Sonam was seen breaking down during her tribute to the designer. Take a look at Sonam’s stunning wardrobe for her emotional tribute.

Sonam Kapoor sheds tears at Rohit Bal’s tribute show

The pictures from FDCI’s official Instagram page show Sonam in Rohit Bal’s heavily embellished ivory-coloured floor-length kurta along with a long-trailed multi-coloured floral embroidered shrug with intricate detailing. The makeup was quite simple. Sonam wore a red lip to match her red-rose headgear, along with soft smokey eyes, winged liner, wispy lashes, blush and highlighter.

Sonam spoke at the event, praising Rohit’s legacy and vision. “His artistry, vision, and legacy have shaped Indian fashion in ways beyond measure. Stepping onto the runway in his memory was both emotional and inspiring celebrating a designer who was, and always will be, an icon,” said Sonam Kapoor. While she walked in Rohit’s design, Sonam was seen breaking down into tears.

While speaking with ANI, Sonam expressed gratitude for being allowed to wear Rohit’s designs and be a part of the special show in his honour.

In other news, since Rohit Bal’s unfortunate passing, the designer’s multi-crore estate. Rohit’s family and his friend Lalit Tehlan have been beefing over the fortune. For content, it seems that Lalit has a will that names them as the primary beneficiary of Rohit’s wealth. However, the two parties have taken to court to resolve the dispute.
