New Delhi: Looks like Chhaava has made the most of Valentine’s Day at the Box Office. Maddock Films, the production banner behind the much-talked-about film, on Saturday (February 15, 2025), took to Instagram to disclose the opening day collection of the Vicky Kaushal starrer. And, it wouldn’t be wrong to say that the historical drama is off to a blockbuster start.

You will be amazed to know that Chhaava has received the biggest opening ever for a historical Hindi film. It raked in Rs 33.1 crore (nett Box Office collection) on Friday (February 14, 2025). If we talk about the global number, the flick grossed Rs 50 crore at the worldwide Box Office.

Now, it would be interesting to see how Chhaava performs in the coming days. It would be crucial for the film to sustain momentum during the weekend and attract even larger footfalls to theaters on Saturday and Sunday.

Chhaava star cast

The 36-year-old Bollywood actor portrays the character of legendary Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj in Chhaava. It also features Rashmika Mandanna as Yesubai Bhonsale, Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, Ashutosh Rana as Hambirrao Mohite, Diana Penty as Zinat-un-Nissa Begum, Divya Dutta as Soyarabai and Vineet Kumar Singh as Kavi Kalash.

The film has been directed by renowned filmmaker Laxman Utekar. Upon its cinematic debut, Chhaava garnered mostly positive reviews from critics and audiences. Praise is being showered upon the flick for its inspiring storyline and compelling performances by the star cast.

Chhaava, produced by Dinesh Vijan, is said to be based on the Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant. It boasts music by Academy Award-winning composer AR Rahman, with lyrics penned by critically acclaimed Irshad Kamil and Kshitij Patwardhan.

It was initially set to release in December 2024. However, it was later postponed. It is now clashing at the silver screen with Hollywood’s much-awaited Captain America: Brave New World.
