New Delhi: The much-anticipated historical drama Chhava starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna is scheduled to be released in theatres on February 14. The Valentine’s Day release is expected to perform well at the Box Office, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. The film, directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Maddock Films, has already earned Rs 15.36 crore with blocked seats, as per Sacnilk.

Chhava, based on the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, has sold over five lakh tickets so far and has grossed Rs 11.44 crore without block seats, as per industry tracker Sacnilk. Maharashtra added the maximum numbers in the historical drama’s collection, contributing an estimated Rs 5.67 crore.

Since the trailer and album launched, Chhava has created a significant buzz among moviegoers. Interesting fact – The name Chhava refers to Sambhaji’s nickname, which means ‘lion cub’ in Marathi. It is a tribute to Shivaji, who is known as a lion for establishing the Maratha Empire.

For the unversed, the film was initially scheduled to be released on December 6, 2024, just a day after Pushpa 2: The Rule‘s release. But, due to massive hype over the film, the makers decided to postpone Chhava‘s release, according to reports. Another possible reason, reportedly, might be to align the film’s release around Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, which falls on February 19.
