Anupam Kher honoured for ‘Philosophy of Optimism’ by Nobel laureate James Allison

New Delhi: Hindi film industry’s veteran actor Anupam Kher has added another unique honour to his long list of accolades. This time it wasn’t for his acting or contributions to cinema but for something deeply personal—his philosophy of optimism.

The 69-year-old star was felicitated by Nobel Prize-winning scientist Professor James Allison and renowned oncologist Professor Padmanee Sharma at the Illuminate Oncology Townhall 2.0. It was hosted by Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai’s Jio World Centre.

Taking to Instagram, the Special 26 actor shared his excitement about receiving the award for his positive outlook on life. “MOST UNIQUE HONOUR FOR ME BY A NOBEL LAUREATE: Apart from my acting or contribution to cinema, I have been awarded for many reasons in the past. But last night, I was felicitated for the most amazing reason—my philosophy of OPTIMISM! I am over the moon to be flanked on both sides by the Medical Royalty of the world,” he wrote. He also tagged the doctors and expressed his gratitude to Dr. Sewanti Limaye and the hospital.

The event recognised individuals who inspire hope and resilience, making Anupam’s recognition for optimism all the more special. Known for his motivational outlook and the ‘Kuch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai’ mantra, the Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaenge star has always encouraged perseverance and positivity through his speeches, books and social media interactions.

Earlier this month, he visited the Mahakumbh Mela 2025 in Prayagraj, where he participated in holy rituals and shared his experience with followers. The actor described the visit as “divine” and expressed his gratitude for witnessing the grand gathering of saints and devotees.
