New Delhi: A complaint has been filed in Mumbai against YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as ‘BeerBiceps’, social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, aka ‘Rebel Kid,’ comedian Samay Raina, and the organisers of India’s Got Latent over allegations of using ‘abusive language’ on the show. The complaint was submitted to the Mumbai Commissioner and Maharashtra Women’s Commission, calling for strict action against the individuals named in the letter.
In a double whammy for BeerBiceps, another complaint was filed against him and Samay along with the show host by an individual named Akshit Singh, accusing them of “promoting obscenity.” A screenshot of the same, dated February 9, was shared on X (formerly Twitter) by the handle named @HinduITCell. “We have submitted an official complaint to the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting against Samay Raina and Ranveer Allahbadia for promoting obscenity. More details on the legal complaint
The complaint filed with the Mumbai Commissioner and Maharashtra Women’s Commission demands strict action against those named in the letter. For those who do not know, YouTuber Ashish Chanchlani, comedian Jaspreet Singh and Instagram influencer Apoorva Mukhija, along with podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia appeared in an episode of Samay Raina’s show India’s Got Latent.
During the episode, BeerBiceps asked a contestant a controversial “would you rather” question about an intimate relationship between their parents. His remarks quickly went viral, sparking outrage on social media as netizens lashed out at him.
When reporters questioned Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis about the controversy, he responded, “I have come to know about it. I have not seen it yet. Things have been said and presented in a wrong way. Everyone has freedom of speech, but our freedom ends when we encroach upon the freedom of others.” He further stated that Indian society follows certain rules and violating them is “absolutely wrong,” adding that action should be taken against those who do so.
