New Delhi: K-pop royalty is back, and the internet can barely keep its cool. BIGBANG’s G-Dragon has officially announced his long-awaited full studio album Übermensch which is set to drop on February 25. Yes, you read that right—after 11 years of waiting, fans are finally getting a new album, and the excitement is off the charts.

G-Dragon aka Kwon Ji-Yong teased the announcement on February 4 with a cryptic Instagram video. The teaser featured two glowing figures walking toward each other under shimmering lights. Scroll down to read more!

Übermensch marks his first full album since 2013’s COUP D’ETAT. That’s a decade-long gap which in K-pop years feels like a lifetime. But clearly, the wait has only amplified the anticipation.

Fans can’t keep calm

As soon as the teaser dropped, fans of G-Dragon flooded social media with reactions that ranged from emotional breakdowns to memes worthy of a museum exhibit. “Mark your calendars, for sound sorcery awaits on February 25th, 2025!” wrote one ecstatic fan. Another declared, “WAR IS OVER,” summing up the collective sigh of relief.

Some fans are treating this like a national event: “Leave filed for National G-Dragon Comeback Day!” And perhaps the most relatable reaction? “AFTER ALMOST 8 YEARS OF STANNING G-DRAGON, I’M FINALLY EXPERIENCING THE COMEBACK!!! CAN YOU HEAR ME FREAKING CRY?” Honestly, same.

Before this announcement, G-Dragon dropped POWER in October 2024 and collaborated with his BIGBANG bandmates Taeyang and Daesung on HOME SWEET HOME. Both tracks are expected to feature on Übermensch, giving fans even more reason to be hyped.

But that’s not all. G-Dragon will also appear on the variety show Good Day with Jung Hyung Do. Directed by Kim Tae Ho, the show will follow G-Dragon as he collaborates with people from different fields to create the “Song of the Year.”
