New Delhi: Oscar-nominated actress for Emilia Pérez, Karla Sofía Gascón, is in hot water after old offensive tweets resurfaced, sparking outrage across the internet. For those who do not know, the tweets dating back to 2020 and 2021, contain derogatory remarks targeting various groups including the global K-pop sensation BTS.

One tweet, in particular, has drawn sharp criticism. Karla expressed frustration over the abundance of BTS-related content on social media, using a racial slur to describe both the group and their fans. She wrote, “I’m fed up with the fact that every time I go looking for important news on Twitter, I get 200 of the fcking Chinese BTS or 200 touching their dcks.”

But for many, the damage was already done. Shortly after, she deactivated her X (formerly Twitter) account, stating she needed time to reflect.
